Captain Wattage is a high-energy school assembly performance that captures students’ attention while teaching them about energy efficiency and electrical safety. Through a blend of humor, action and lively audience interaction, two professional actor-educators transform into a variety of unforgettable characters, leading students through an exciting adventure where they’ll join forces with our lovable hero to stop a mischievous villain who’s wasting precious energy. The show is both fun and educational, with plenty of humor to keep students engaged while reinforcing key concepts.

Through engaging sketches featuring a variety of entertaining characters, Captain Wattage teaches the following educational points:
- While energy and electricity are often used interchangeably, it’s important to know their distinct definitions and uses.
- Electricity is a specific type of energy that powers homes, cities and devices and must be generated through multiple methods to exist.
- Energy is wasted daily through personal habits, but can be conserved just as effectively by adjusting those behaviors.
- By exploring how students can take electrical safety into their own hands, they will have the ability to extend their knowledge to any new real-life situation.

Audience Guidelines – Before the show, watch a brief video to equip students with the skills they need to be excellent audience members.
Pre-Show Materials – Get students primed for learning with KWL charts and vocabulary words to scaffold their experience.
Student Booklet – The printed activity book contains several program-themed activities to engage elementary school students, that can be completed in the classroom or at home. The book also features a center-spread arts integration activity for students to share with their families. The booklet is also available digitally in the Teacher Toolkit.
Hands-on Lessons – These easy-to-use lessons let students and teachers bring the educational content to life in the classroom.
Digital Games – Using characters and elements from the program, the digital games offer challenging levels to test students’ knowledge of facts and vocabulary while keeping them engaged.
