The Safety Circus

The Safety Circus is an action-packed, interactive performance that teaches students about electricity and electrical safety. Two professional actors bring the story to life, guiding students through an exciting adventure where they’ll learn important safety practices in a fun and memorable way. The hero, with the help of their team, discovers how to handle electricity safely to avoid accidents, all while ensuring the circus can pass its inspection and stay open.
Beyond the performance, students and teachers will receive an e-learning package filled with games, quizzes and lesson plans designed to reinforce the key concepts learned during the show. These additional resources make it easy to continue learning about electrical safety, ensuring a fun and educational experience that extends beyond the live performance.

Through engaging sketches featuring a variety of entertaining characters, The Safety Circus teaches the following educational points:
- While energy and electricity are often used interchangeably, it’s important to know their distinct definitions and uses.
- Electricity is a specific type of energy that powers homes, cities and devices and must be generated through multiple methods to exist.
- Energy is wasted daily through personal habits, but can be conserved just as effectively by adjusting those behaviors.
- By exploring how students can take electrical safety into their own hands, they will have the ability to extend their knowledge to any new real-life situation.

Audience Guidelines – Before the show, watch a brief video to equip students with the skills they need to be excellent audience members.
Pre-Show Materials – Get students primed for learning with KWL charts and vocabulary words to scaffold their experience.
Student Booklet – The printed activity book contains several program-themed activities to engage elementary school students, that can be completed in the classroom or at home. The book also features a center-spread arts integration activity for students to share with their families. The booklet is also available digitally in the Teacher Toolkit.
Printable Handouts – The toolkit contains several program-themed printable handouts to engage students in the lessons from the performance. These can be completed in the classroom or at home.
